El Dorado Hills Public Library breaks ground on Serrano land

A new 16,000 sq. ft. library is beginning to take shape in El Dorado Hills, Calif., on land provided by the developers of the master-planned community of Serrano. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in June 2004, and the library is expected to open its doors in fall 2005.

Monies for construction have come from fundraisers conducted by the El Dorado Hills Friends of the Library, from a county grant, and from taxpayers. Residents of Serrano will contribute $2 million to the library via Mello-Roos fees. The Friends of the Library are continuing to raise funds for the library’s interior and for books.

The library will feature a children’s room for story time and for studying, an adult reading room with a fireplace, a teen reading room and study area, and a large community meeting room.

Located on a 4-acre site inside the Serrano grounds, the library’s architectural style matches the overall theme of Serrano and the Serrano Country Club.

In addition to the onsite public library, the community also features on-site public schools built on land provided by Serrano Associates.

Parker Development Company is developing Serrano in partnership with Catellus Residential Group.

Parker Development advances funds to extend streets and ease travel

Parker Development Company, the developer of the master-planned community of Serrano in El Dorado Hills, Calif., advanced the funds needed to extend two key community roads in order to make travel easier for everyone in the growing picturesque Sierra foothills community.

In May 2004 a $3 million project began to extend Silva Valley Road about one mile to link with White Rock Road. The extension will give drivers an alternate route to El Dorado Hills Blvd., currently the community’s only main thoroughfare. The extension, to be completed in spring 2005, will also make it easier for workers to reach the El Dorado Hills Business Park.

Meanwhile, Parker Development and other builders have advanced money for the extension of Serrano Parkway east to Bass Lake Road. This project is scheduled for completion in summer 2005.
